Rive Gauche shopping centre in Charleroi has significantly revitalised the city's downtown area since its opening in 2017. The centre features over 90 stores attracting approximately 8 million visitors annually. Air designed were tasked with developing the Rive Gauche interiors and branding to support this revitalisation project.
The vibrant retail and leisure destination has increased footfall in surrounding streets by over 50%, contributing to the resurgence of local businesses benefiting both the local economy and community.

Once a declining city centre abandoned by tenants and visitors, Rive Gauche has revitalised Charleroi by creating a vibrant hub of activity. With a new town square, shopping centre, restored bourse, hotel, and offices, the project has redefined how locals engage with their city, reducing the need to commute to neighbouring areas for leisure and retail.
Our interior design reimagined spaces within Rive Gauche to create an inviting, dynamic environment that resonates with visitors and encourages repeat engagement.
We developed a cohesive branding system that positions Rive Gauche as one of Belgium’s premier retail and leisure destinations, seamlessly integrating modern aesthetics with local identity.
