Air Design collaborated with NEPI Rockcastle on the Promenada Craiova project in Romania, developing the retail centre interior design concept and wayfinding signage design.

Promenada Craiova has quickly established itself as a prominent success in the retail sector. This €136 million investment is the largest retail development in Central and Eastern Europe, spanning a 52,000 sqm Gross Leasable Area (GLA) with a total retail space of 63,700 sqm. Anchored by a hypermarket, this two-level centre offers approximately 2,800 parking spaces across surface and rooftop levels, making it one of the largest retail assets in the CEE region.

Air Design’s interior design concept for Promenada Craiova established the visual and spatial language for a destination that needed to feel both contemporary and locally relevant. The wayfinding signage system was designed to support navigation across the two-level centre and its extensive car parking, with particular attention to the transition between car park and retail levels a notoriously difficult navigation challenge in large-format retail.

The signage hierarchy was developed to work clearly at speed for drivers as well as on foot for shoppers, using a consistent typographic and colour system throughout. The 99.9% occupancy rate at launch and the debut of over 20 brands new to the city are a testament to the confidence investors and retailers placed in the destination a confidence that good interior design and wayfinding helped build.
