As we continue our 21 from 21 series, we’re looking back at the wayfinding signage and information desk design we designed in 2018 for the modern urban space Forum Gdańsk, owned by Multi. The development went on to receive silver at Europe’s 2020 Transform Awards for Air’s wayfinding and signage design!

The mixed-use development is formed by a combination of medieval canals, 2 hectares of greenery comprised of 80 different species, streets, squares, meeting spaces and individual buildings to create a unique and diverse ecosystem in the city center.

It is also home to 200 shops (Helios and H&M), has the widest gastronomic offer in the region, modern entertainment, office spaces and the largest parking facility in the city.

Our design concept takes inspiration from the geometric shapes and patterning of the mall branding and interiors. The box design plays with negative space to attract visitors whilst blending harmoniously within the environment.

Our information desk design complements the signage system, following the same aesthetic and is designed to be accessible for visitors and functional for the customer services team.

Forum Gdansk immediately became a must-visit place for locals and tourists in Gdańsk, with more than one million people visiting in its first three weeks! It has since gathered up a pile of awards including Shopping Centre of the Year in the large retail project category and Innovation of the Year in the Retail Sector at the EuropaProperty CEE Retail Awards 2019 and winning the Eastern European Property Design Award 2019 in the shopping centres category. Adding to its list, it then went on to win the gold award in the category ‘New Shopping Centre’ and a silver award for its opening campaign at the 10th annual Polish Council of Shopping Centres PRCH Retail Awards gala!
